Introducing Dr. David Lauer of Lincoln

When the emergency room nurse told me to see a chiropractor I thought she was nuts!  I told her I had "real" pain and needed a "real" doctor.  Well I guess we know the rest of that story.

Dr. David Lauer

My experience with chiropractic exceeded my expectations and turned my life around.  In the process of getting healthy I learned so much more about my body than any of the "real doctors" had ever related.  I decided that a career of showing people that the human body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism capable of so much more was for me.  Knowing that I had some control over my health and future was a new beginning.

I finished my undergraduate work at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and was accepted into Logan College of Chiropractic of suburban St. Louis in the spring of 1981.  Logan was the first chiropractic college established originally as a four year institution and the level of academic rigor attracted me.  I was surprised to find so many fellow students who, like me, had come to chiropractic as a result of personal experience.

The word doctor literally translates from it's origins to "teacher".  I feel a large part of my responsibility is to open patients up to what is possible.  When they accept that the actions and decisions they make moment to moment either build or sabotage health and the likelihood of  enjoying pain-free healthy living.  To see a patient really "get it" is a thrill. Patients who ask questions and take responsibility get consistently better results.  Seeing a person who has been told to "live with it" start taking control and living with less pain and more function  is a deeply satisfying experience.

Dr. David Lauer is proud to be your Husker Team Chiropractor

I married my wife Kelly a month before beginning chiropractic college and moving away to St. Louis in 1981.  We met while she was student teaching and I was finishing undergraduate studies and both worked at a local restaurant.  We now have four boys, Josh, Jared, Jamie, and Jackson.  I could not be prouder of my family.  Together we have begun a support group for kids with juvenile diabetes and their parents.  Jackson, our youngest, has juvenile diabetes and when Kelly found out there was no support group for these kids she enrolled us all in a vision for Lincoln's children with diabetes.  For our family to come together and provide a much needed service for our community is an experience we are all enriched by.

I play golf in my spare time and love to cook as well.  If I weren't a chiropractor I might be a chef and have a restaurant of my own.  I find that home is certainly where the heart is, and home is where we find the best within ourselves.  I love watching movies or just hanging out with all the family around.

I was told at age 19 that I had a degenerative disc.  I still have it but I feel that a healthy lifestyle, regular chiropractic, and exercise has allowed me to lead a very active life without many limitations at all.  Along with our medical and dental team, all my family gets regular chiropractic care and lead very active and healthy lives as well.

Dr. David Asks some important questions of interest to Lincoln residents - Chiropractor Lincoln Dr. David Asks...

Do chiropractors prescribe medications for the pain?
No. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to better health. Instead, we rely on natural methods. We can show you how to use ice to control pain. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the unwanted and sometimes dangerous effects of pain medications.
What's a side effect?
It may sound like a bonus; something extra, but chiropractors know it should more accurately called an "unintended effect," and "unwanted effect" or in some cases an "adverse effect." A pill can't come close to matching your body's ability to create and deliver the essential compounds it needs. That's when it's important to make sure your nervous system is working correctly—the purpose of chiropractic care!
